Our tagline, “We do it all,” couldn’t be more accurate. We cater intimate events of 15 people…and masterfully, seamlessly throw affairs for 50,000+. From the day we started, close to 40 years ago, we have catered to the appetites of literally millions of people. It’s what we do. It’s what we love.

Our story began in 1978, when company founder Scott Skornschek’s high school buddy, Dave Greco (yes, former Tampa Mayor’s nephew), was cooking half chickens on a big BBQ machine. It was so incredible that Scott wanted to be part of it, to give people something they would genuinely appreciate. After buying out Dave’s partner, then Dave’s portion a few short years later, Scott was in the catering business – and he founded the company based on 3 core values – passion, service, and excellence, which remain in store to this day. Port-A-Pit BBQ grew and grew over the years, and recognizing the need for a sister company – one that specializes in cuisine other than BBQ – Spotlight Catering was born. 

As of 2018, Spotlight Catering and Port-A-Pit BBQ are now co-owned and operated by Scott and his son, Parker Skornschek, who has attained a degree in Hospitality and Tourism Management from the Dedman School of Hospitality at Florida State University. With their combined expertise in the field, backed by their selfless support team, you can be sure that your next event with us will truly be one to remember.
